Hi Bill, Thanks for the update! My guess as to why the beaver hasn't built a dam is that he doesn't need one in this location. The last time I checked, the water is pretty deep right in front of his bank lodge. It's deep enough to allow him to escape from predators easily and to keep his lodge entrance ice-free. No need for a dam. Anne W.
